Bannerghatta National Park is one of the major tourist attraction in Bangalore, spread across 25,000 acres and featuring lions, tigers, elephants, large variety of birds and many other richest natural and zoological reserves.

The park was established in the year 1978 and underwent major changes in the year 2011 by getting beautiful parks, shelters for the visitors through out the park and its outside.

The Zoo inside the park is home for various fauna including snakes, elephants, beers, crocodiles, deers, variety of beautiful birds and many more.

Visitors to the park can also go for a Safari where they can see big lions, white tigers, hyenas and more, when they are in the Wild or a Grand Safari which offers an in depth experience of the wild life.

Butterfly Park

India’s first butterfly park is inside the Bannerghatta National Park. The butterfly park was inaugurated on 25th November 2006.

The butterfly park is spread over 7 acres and features butterfly museum, conservatory and an audio video room.

There is a Children’s playground inside the zoo where children can have some fun time and there are few small restaurants to have some snacks or a meal.

The park will remain closed on Tuesdays and opened on all other days from 9am to 5pm.

The entry fee of Bannerghatta National Park depends on what a visitor opts for. The normal entry fee to the Zoo is Rs 80, and the visitor have to pay an additional amount for Safari (Rs 200), Grand Safari, Elephant ride(Rs 75) and entry to Butterfly Park and for camera (Rs 25) or video camera (Rs 200).

The entry fee may be a little bit higher during weekends, holidays and during any special events.

The national park is around 25kms from Bangalore city railway station and Bus stand and around 80kms from Bangalore International Airport.

Places to Visit near Bannerghatta National Park

A trip to Bannerghatta National Park itself takes a day to enjoy the zoo and park completely. However a visitor to the park can choose to visit Meenakshi Sundareshwra Temple which is located on the way to the park or can shop at Meenakshi Mall which is one of the biggest shopping mall in Bangalore.
