For the first time of its kind of trips in India Karnataka Forest Department along with Karnataka Ecotourism Development Board (KEDB) in association with Jungle Lodges and Resorts are offering several eco friendly trekking and adventure activities to the adventurists and wildlife lovers. As the part of the program, these departments will establish several base camps at several places in the state and provide trekking activities from their base camps.
Currently established base camps are Bhagavathi Nature Camp from where adventurists can trek to Kudremukh, Kulgi Nature Camp, Anshi Evergreen Camp, Castlerock Adventure Camp are established to trek to Dandeli, Hemmdaga Camp to trek to Bhimgad and Jogimatti Nature Camp to trek to Jogimatti.
From the base camps adventurists have to trek to their chosen destination along the trail under the guidance of trained experts. The culinary requirements of the trekkers will be taken care by the Jungle Lodges and Resorts group.
There are several private travel operators in Bangalore who often provide such trekking activities but most of the time, the offers are to the places that are around the city and very rarely they take the adventurists very deep into the natural forests. Now with the Government of Karnataka came into the picture and encouraging Eco Tourism in the state, trekking activities will become available to each and every enthusiast, which was enjoyed by only few groups earlier.
