502nd Birthday celebrations of Kempe Gowda, who is considered as the founder of Bangalore city, will be organized across the city from 27th June 2014.
Essay writing, drawing, cricket and several other competitions will be held to students in order to increase the awareness of the founder of Bangalore. Four towers erected by the king across the city to mark as the boundaries of the city will be decorated and rallies will be organized from those towers to the Palike head office.
During Kempe Gowda period the city was spread across as area of 85 Sq kms which has now become 800 Sq kms. According to history Kempe Gowda built as many as 2000 small and big lakes across the city to satisfy the city’s water requirements among which only 68 lakes are survived and are existing now.
