In earlier times the hills is named as Yenugu Mallamma Konda. A little girl namely Mallamma lived in the forest under the care of elephants. She cured many tribal people who are lived in the hills. One day she suddenly disappears and people thought that she is goddess. After that the name was changed as Horsley hills. A British officer WD. Horsley was the collector of Cuddapah district. He visited the hills and chooses the place as summer residence. At present the governor uses the Horsley house as summer residence. Tourists can reach these Horsley hills via narrow road.
