Bangalore Aquarium is an octagonal building situated inside the Cubbon park in the heart of Bangalore City in the state of Karnataka. This aquarium is the 2nd largest in the country and a major tourist attraction because of a rich diversity in terms of aquatic life found inside the aquarium. This aquarium was built in the year1983 and it is looked after by the state government.
Large building that contains many exotic fish varieties
Bangalore aquarium is a three storied building that is home to not only Indian but also exotic fish found in different parts of the world. All the fish found in this aquarium is freshwater fish. One can see Siamese fighters, Masheer, Blue Gourami, Indian Tiger Barb, Glow Light Tetra, Angel Fish, Red Tail Shark, and many more species of fish in this magnificent aquarium. There are not only ornamental but also cultivable fish on display in this aquarium.

Bangalore aquarium remains closed on Thursdays and the timings for the visitors are from 10 AM in the morning to 5 PM in the evening.

Fish in tanks on three floors
There is not only fish on display in many tanks on the ground floor but also an office and a laboratory. There is also a shop selling fish feed for those who keep fish as pets in small aquariums in their homes and offices.
There are 14 large tanks containing all sorts of fish on the first floor of the aquarium. On the 2nd and the 3rd floors, there are not one but two rows of tanks in which different varieties of fish are on display. Of the two rows, there are 23 large tanks in the upper row while there are 46 small water tanks in the lower row. There is a canteen in the Cubban Park maintained by Karnataka Fisheries Development Corporation where you can expect delicious dished made of fish for your lunch or snacks.
The Aquarium is located at a distance of 4kms from Majestic (Bangalore City Bus Stand), railway station and at a distance of 33kms from Bangalore International Airport.
